The quiet man of the 2016/17 Bragging Rights Fantasy League season has been Nohopers boss Doherty. Flying under the radar, he has built a competitive squad which notched his second Manager of the Month award and has climbed to within 20 points of the league summit.

Shunning the limelight that is embraced by certain other title challengers, Shaw opted to receive his award in a small, private room - far from the prying eyes of press, fans and rivals. Entering the toilet cubicle and bolting the door, Doherty was taken aback to find that the entire event was to be streamed on Facebook, with a live Q&A session scheduled to take place.

”Hang on, lads” whispered the softly-spoken supremo as he loosened his snakeskin belt. “When I said I’d meet you in the small room, I meant the bootroom down the corridor. Now, if you don’t mind, I’ve a little transfer activity to take care of…”

Doherty is keen to dampen fans’ expectations, denying that a title challenge is a realistic prospect but with a front 6 of Pogba, Hazard, De Bruyne, Jesus, Sanchez and Firmino he remains many shrewd observers’ tip for May glory.
